D0064
Dengue Rapid IgG
Test Details: Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. The most common initial symptoms are a sudden high fever and flu-like symptoms that appear roughly 4 to 7 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. If the disease progresses further, symptoms such as persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, fluid accumulation, mucosal bleeding, restlessness, progressive increase in haematocrit may be observed. This test helps detect antibodies produced by the immune system when a person has been exposed to the virus. If the IgG is positive but the IgM is low or negative, then it is likely that the patient had an infection sometime in the past. Presence of IgG alone (absence of NS1 Ag and/or IgM), does not indicate active dengue infection. Test results, therefore, should be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation, including exposure history and clinical symptoms.
