This test can help determine if the body is producing excess of cortisol. This test may be used to diagnose Cushing syndrome. Higher than normal level of 17-hydroxy corticosteroid indicate Cushing syndrome, depression, hydrocortisone therapy, malnutrition, obesity, pregnancy, high blood pressure, physical and emotional stress, tumour in pituitary gland.
