Measles (Rubeola) virus IgG antibody CSF
Test Details: The presence of IgG antibodies to measles in CSF may indicate CNS infection or subacute sclerosing panencephalitis. SSPE is a serious disease that occurs after the measles virus is latent in the CNS, resulting in slow progression and death with in 1-3 years. Identification of the presence of intrathecal antibody synthesis is an important criteria for the diagnosis of disease.
