Test Details: Hu antibodies are marker of para-neoplastic neurological syndrome, almost always associated with small cell lung carcinoma. Paraneoplastic syndrome involves non-metastatic systemic effects that accompany malignant disease. Anti-Hu is found in 5-10% of patients with small cell lung carcinoma. Anti-Hu is associated with subacute syndrome of encephalomyeloradiculopathy, sensory neuropathy and autoimmune neuropathy predominantly affecting the gastrointestinal tract.
