Test Details: This culture test is performed in order to detect the presence of coffee bean shaped bacterium, Neisseria gonorrhoea. This bacteria causes a sexually transmitted disease, gonorrhoea, which chiefly affects the mucous membrane of the urethra and cervix, sometimes rectum and oropharynx as well. If the test comes out to be positive, antibiotic treatment should be started immediately.
