M0092
Mitochondrial (M2) Antibody by IFA
Test Details: Primary biliary cholangitis is a slow-progressing chronic autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation and scarring of the bile ducts inside the liver. PBC is found most frequently in women between the ages of 35 and 60. About 90-95% of those affected by PBC will have significant titers of anti-mitochondrial antibodies. There are nine types of AMA antigens (M1 -M9) of which M2 and M9 are most likely to cause illness. The test helps measure the amount of M2 which is the primary cause of biliary cholangitis (PBC).
