Test Details: The GeneXpert MTB/RIF assay is a novel integrated diagnostic device that performs sample processing and hemi-nested real-time PCR analysis in a single hands-free step for the diagnosis of tuberculosis and rapid detection of Rifampicin resistance in clinical specimens. Culture increases the number of tuberculosis cases found, often by 30-50% and detects cases which are smear-negative.
