Test Details: QF-PCR analysis of microsatellite markers helps in rapid diagnosis of common aneuploidies and triploidy in prenatal, fetal tissue and new-born blood samples. The occurrence of one or more extra or missing chromosomes leading to an unbalanced chromosome complement, or any chromosome number is known as Aneuploidy. Aneuploidies are associated with genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome, Patau Syndrome. QF-PCR is based on the amplification of chromosome-specific DNA sequences (STR, short tandem repeats) that are polymorphic in length.
