Test Details: Fragile X Syndrome is the most common form of familial mental retardation affecting males. Fragile X site is a folate sensitive site demonstrated by culturing in folic acid deficient medium or in presence of excess thymidine. Karyotyping for Fragile X site is a screening method and not a diagnostic test.
