Test Details: This is a initial screening test used in the diagnosis of bullous pemphigoid. The antibodies are directed against the two components of the basement membrane zone of the epithelium BP180 (type XVII collagen) and BP230. Anti-BP230 are found in approximately 65% of patients with BP, while the anti-BP180 are found in almost all patients. The serum level of anti-BP180 correlates with disease activity and BP230 correlates with disease duration.
