Test Details: Beta carotene, a fat soluble nutrient, is a precursor to vitamin A. Hence beta carotene deficiency may lead to vitamin A deficiency. Deficient vitamin A leads to development of xerophthalmia, keratinisation of skin and mucous membrane, drying and scaling of skin, growth retardation and infection predisposition in children.
