Test Details: CD 33 is known as classic myeloid antigen, which mediates cell to cell adhesion and acts as receptor that inhibits the proliferation of normal and leukemic myeloid cells. It helps in distinguishing myeloid (CD33+) and lymphoid leukemias (CD33-) and also helps in identifying monocytes by flow cytometry. It also helps in immunophenotyping of AML.
