IHC-E-cadherin
Test Details: Immunohistochemical testing is carried out on biopsy/resected tissue specimen. This testing helps to identify specific antigens (proteins) within tissue sections utilizing an antigen-specific antibody. E-cadherin is a transmembrane glycoprotein, a member of the cadherin superfamily, and the major calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecule of epithelial cells. E-cadherin is a useful marker to discriminate between ductal and lobular breast and is also used as a marker to differentiate between reactive mesothelial proliferation and mesotheliomas.
