Desmin is a type III intermediate filament protein present in skeletal muscle. Desmin stains cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle cells and tumours derived from these cells. Desmin is an important diagnostic marker for all myogenic tumours and tumours with myogenic differentiation.
